Your leadership program has made a big difference here, and this year in particular has been huge for us. It is so much easier now to get folks to do something different or additional to improve the performance of our plant.
The biggest thing is we have a better understanding and a deeper appreciation for the uniqueness of human beings. In other words, now we treat people like people and understand that when they don’t seem to be doing their jobs well, it’s probably because they’re bored. We were causing that. Now we’ve given them responsibility for improving cost, quality, and delivery in their areas every day, and as a result I see a lot more smiles around here.
Roger (our Everest consultant) was excellent. He gave us practical help to apply what we learned instead of just talking in theory. He understands manufacturing. He was very service-oriented in general and served us in whatever ways he could.
We originally brought you in because we had attempted to go to teams but we had no idea how to do it. You told us that what everyone else was doing – the traditional way of implementing teams – doesn’t work. Right then, I said to myself, “I’ll listen to this guy.” Then when I read your book, I saw that your approach was not only different, but also simple, and I could logically see how it could give us big results.
The main thing we liked about your approach is that we were looking for a playbook or a roadmap to get our people to successfully work in teams. That is exactly what you gave us. We knew if we did our part, we’d get results. And that’s what happened.
You guys are the best consultants I’ve ever worked with. I’m looking forward to our next project together.
